Meet Pua, the dog who stars in a Boracay hotel's pet-friendly initiative

A hotel in Boracay has a new team member: a dog who brings warmth and joy to both employees and guests. 

Say hello to Pua, who was adopted by Belmont Hotel Boracay from the island's Animal Adoption Rescue Center in November 2024. 

The hotel initially wanted this adorable rescue pup to foster a positive work culture, citing studies that show pets in workplaces can reduce stress and create camaraderie among employees.

"Pua has already become a beloved member of our team, and our associates enjoyed their special time with her," said Maia Israel, the general manager for Boracay Newcoast hotels, which include Belmont Hotel Boracay and Savoy Hotel Boracay.

Pua's cheerful energy was working wonders on Belmont Hotel Boracay's staff. At the same time, the hotel recognized the growing demand for pet-friendly accommodations as more travelers consider their pets as family members. 

This prompted them to launch a pet-friendly initiative and, of course, Pua is the star of the show. Aside from being the hotel's resident greeter, she is now the face of "PAWsome Adventures." 

This new campaign by Belmont Hotel Boracay includes a room package where guests can stay with their furry babies, with rates starting at P5,200 for an overnight stay in a Deluxe Room. It comes with amenities such as a cozy pet bed, a food bowl, disposable towels, a litter box for feline guests, and a VIP pet identification card upon check-in. 

The hotel's Belmont Cafe is also rolling out a pet menu that includes cakes and even a hearty Doggo Lasagna, and is available daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

"We believe that vacations are best enjoyed with every member of the family, including our beloved pets," said Israel. "We're excited to offer an island home for travelers, along with their furry babies."
