MANILA -- Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, Miss Universe Asia Chelsea Manalo, and the rest of the Continental Queens officially kicked off their Philippine tour at a press conference held at Okada Manila, April 27.

The four beauty queens, starting with the reigning Miss Universe Victoria Theilvig, raved about the warm welcome and support she received from Filipinos, as well as the country’s cuisine. She also shared her first impressions of the country after her very first visit last month.

“Being here, the first thing I noticed was the people. Your community is such a warm and beloved community. And you opened your arms for me. It feels like home almost. Everyone is so humble, so respectful, and so sweet… Thank you so much to each and everyone, for giving the Filipino humility a special place in my heart,” Thielvig said.

“Just to be back here in the Philippines where we have such a lovely community. I love the Filipino people. The food here is amazing, the culture… Everything about the Philippines is just so warm and welcoming,” Theilvig said.

Miss Universe Tatiana Calmell agreed with Theilvig saying, “everyone here is so nice and so kind. Thank you for all the love and the energy. At the airport, they welcomed us with flowers. I think being here with all of you, giving love to us, the Miss Universe Organization, is just incredible.”

She also excitedly shared her delight in Filipino cuisine, especially the beloved adobo.

“The food is amazing! Yesterday we tried some adobo. We also have adobo, but it’s kind of different. Normally the one in Peru is with beef, right here it is with pork. It was so tasty and so good,” Calmell said.

Miss Africa Chidimma Adetshina said that they are “definitely going to love” the Philippines instantly after receiving much love in the country as soon as they arrived.

“From the moment we arrived, from the flowers to the welcoming, we’re definitely going to love the Philippines,” Adetshina said.

She also shared on how she has heard about Palawan, and excitedly anticipates her Palawan trip with the rest of her fellow Continental Queens.

“Well, I have heard about Palawan, which we are actually going to next week. We are excited for that and I cannot wait,” Adetshina shared.

Miss Universe Europe and Middle East Matilda Wirtavuori expressed her eagerness in experiencing the Miss Universe Philippines event, especially the coronation night.

“Last year I was following the pageant as a fan girl myself. So now, it’s surreal to be here to experience it, to get to be a guest at the finals of the coronation,” Wirtavuori said.

Miss Universe Asia Chelsea Manalo said that while they have a packed schedule, she also wants her fellow beauty queens to make the most out of their stay.

“We have a lot of events going on, for sure. We will let them experience the warmth and what a pageant is like here in the Philippines because they will be coming with us to the coronation night. So, for sure, it’s really amazing that they will be there alongside me when I walk on my final night. They will be there to see how amazing the crowds are, how beautiful and kind we are—just showing them so much love. Busy is good, but I want them, most especially, to enjoy their time,” Manalo said.

The reigning Filipino queen is set to host the preliminary competition of the 2025 Miss Universe Philippines pageant on Monday, April 28, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

They will also grace the 2025 Miss Universe Philippines Charity Gala Night on Wednesday, April 30, at Okada Manila, where they will be special guests at the back-to-back event that includes the national costume presentation.

Lastly, Theilvig and her continental queens will then take center stage at the grand coronation of Miss Universe Philippines 2025, set to unfold on Friday, May 2, 6:00 pm, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
