In an interview with the media upon her arrival in Manila on Monday, the beauty queen from Iloilo dedicated her victory not just to her country, but also to the most important person in her life -- her grandmother, who passed away last year.

"I wanted to win not only to bring glory to the country, but also to give my grandma a beautiful birthday gift," she said of her Lola Basing, the woman who raised her.

Brooks is now the third Miss Eco International titleholder from the Philippines, after Kathleen Paton in 2022 and Cynthia Thomalla in 2018.

She said she is looking forward to a purposeful reign. "My grandma just died and I don't have anyone left, so I would love to dedicate my life to bigger causes than myself."
