Pampanga and Aurora Province are in the running in this year's World Travel Awards (WTA), bringing the Philippines' total nominations to 10, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT).

The nominations include Aurora Province as Asia's Leading Regional Nature Destination; San Fernando, Pampanga as Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination; and Clark Freeport Zone, which spans Pampanga and parts of Tarlac, as Asia's Leading Meetings and Conference Destination.

"We are deeply honored and grateful for the continued recognition of the Philippines by the World Travel Awards. These new nominations reaffirm the strength and diversity of our tourism offerings — from pristine nature destinations and cultural hubs to world-class meeting and conference venues," Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said in a statement.

Aurora Province has made a name as a surfing destination with its unspoiled coastlines, while San Fernando is dubbed as the country's Christmas Capital, with its annual giant lantern festival a hit among both locals and tourists.

Meanwhile, Clark Freeport Zone joins Manila, Cebu, and Davao as the Philippines' top hubs for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.

Aside from the three new nominations, the country is also competing in the following categories in the 2025 WTA:

- Asia's Leading Beach Destination

- Asia's Leading Dive Destination

- Asia's Leading Island Destination

"I call on our fellow Filipinos and international friends to vote and help us secure these recognitions. These awards are a testament to our sustained efforts in tourism development rooted in sustainability, inclusivity, and excellence," she said.

The WTA recognizes excellence in travel, tourism, and hospitality globally and regionally, with nominations curated by industry professionals.

Winners are chosen through a public voting process that involves both tourism experts and the general public.
