Cambridge has implemented numerous initiatives to help empower women and ensure they feel a strong sense of belonging, creating a big space for women, and giving them opportunities to advance into senior roles. These efforts include building community with staff network activities, creating safe spaces for working moms, addressing the gender pay gap, and promoting a flexible, hybrid working setup.

The Women in Manila staff network, which has advocated for the creation of safe spaces and a community for women in Cambridge, has celebrated its first anniversary and continues its advocacies and activities within the organization.

Carolyn Robson, Academic Technology Director at Cambridge and Sponsor of Women in Manila, highlights the significance of the organization’s efforts: "There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing the women at Cambridge thrive and reach their full potential. Through initiatives like 'Women in Manila’, we are dedicated to ensuring that women in our Philippine office have the mentorship, support, and resources to excel and I am incredibly proud to be part of a company where women and LGBTQ+ individuals can lead, innovate, and grow in a safe, inclusive environment. We would love for more women to join us and become part of this thriving community, where your voice will be heard, and your contributions will shape the future of our technology."

Fostering collaboration

Cambridge's commitment to fostering collaboration is evident in their achievements and recognition. For the second year in a row, Cambridge has achieved the Great Place to Work® (GPTW) certification, reflecting its commitment to its EDIB (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging) ethos and its goal of creating an environment where all colleagues can grow and pursue their potential.

With a sense of belonging, 95 percent of the workforce proudly share that they work at Cambridge, and 95 percent of new employees feel welcome upon joining.

Cambridge's efforts and dedication have also been recognized at the HR Excellence Awards Philippines 2024, where Cambridge received a Bronze Award for Excellence in Cross-Generational Workforce Engagement.

Cambridge strives to create a workplace where everyone is welcome, feels respected for who they are, and valued for what they bring as an individual. Everyone is treated fairly, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. According to the GPTW 2024 results, 96 percent of employees confirmed fair treatment regardless of sexual orientation, and 95 percent affirmed fairness regardless of gender.

The organization encourages employees to express themselves freely to create a culture of empowerment and respect, and to participate in special events to strengthen the bonds within the organization and the community. This year marked its first participation in Pride Month, building on its support for other significant initiatives such as International Women’s Month.

Benefits

To further support its employees, Cambridge offers a range of benefits:

  • • Regularization on day 1 - From the start, employees benefit from competitive salaries and allowances, as well as immediate regularization.
  • • Hybrid and flexible working schedules - Cambridge operates on the principle of trust. Teams are allowed to choose the most effective location and working pattern to support a balanced work-life setup.
  • • Flexible leaves and support for health - Cambridge prioritizes its employees' health, offering free medical consultations and flexible leaves for mental health days, caregiving responsibilities, and other events.
  • • Support for families - Maternity leave and the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) special leave are available for female employees. Typically, the Magna Carta Law requires employees to have worked for 12 months, with at least six months of continuous service, to qualify for this leave. Cambridge has adjusted this requirement to allow their female employees to qualify for the special leave benefit, even with less than six months of service. In addition, Cambridge provides HMO allowances for maternity-related medical expenses and offers equipment for expectant mothers to further support their needs during this important time.

Cambridge University Press & Assessment offers these benefits and activities to support their goal of creating a workplace where everyone, regardless of gender, feels valued, and enjoys their work.
