2024 marks a milestone for the Ligo brand – first introduced in the Philippines in 1954 – as it celebrates its 70^th anniversary. The brand remains a familiar choice in households across the country.

"Si Ligo, nakalakihan ko na 'yan. Sinasabi natin, "Bumili ka ng Ligo! Pero sardinas ang ibig sabihin natin," (I have grown up with Ligo. We say, 'Buy Ligo!' but we mean sardines) shared a long-time sardines consumer.

Actor and Ligo endorser Joshua Garcia, a long-time fan of the brand, shared his experience with the brand: "ilang consumer since childhood (as a consumer since childhood) and now an endorser, I highly recommend Ligo not only because it is so quick and easy to prepare – from gisa (sautéing), to mixing it with sotanghon, to turning it into a torta, to the large variety of flavors that they have in store for us."

Feedback from consumers highlights the brand's consistency, with comments such as "Sardinas ng bayan. Established na" (The nation's sardines. It is already established.) and "Consistency over the years in terms of the qualityng isda (of the sardines)."

Giving sardines lovers a range of seafood choices

In addition to its flagship variants - Sardines in Tomato Sauce and Sardines in Tomato Sauce Chili Added, Ligo has expanded its product range to include several new options. Adding variety to the consumers' canned seafood repertoire aims to bring more excitement to the dining table. 

- Ligo Sardines Gata Style combines sardines with coconut milk for a mildly spicy, savory taste. 

- Ligo Sardines Spanish Style has a classic mix of aromatic herbs and spices. 

- Ligo Sardines with Sriracha brings in a distinctly Asian bold and tangy kick. 

The brand also offers Mackerel in Natural Oil, ideal for Sotanghon and Teriyaki, and Ligo Squid in Natural Ink, which comes in handy for preparing Squid Adobo and Squid Chopsuey.
