MANILA (UPDATED) – This lifestyle brand has just hit the ground running.

Iconic French brand Salomon opened its first concept store in the country on Saturday, situated at the Midlevel 2/3 East Wing, Edsa Shangri-La in Mandaluyong City.

That's just a few steps away from the MRT Shaw station, if you would be commuting to visit the store.

Mikko Abello, the company's Business Unit Senior Manager, said that "Salomon is not just a sports brand, but it's also a lifestyle brand."

"This store, with its extensive selection, embodies the brand’s commitment to providing premium products to fans of the brand. From trail to city, we have something to offer both the serious trail run athlete and the fashion-forward consumer. We want this to become a space where both sport and culture converge," he said.

The "most popular" footwear from them right now is the XT-6, which is priced at P12,290. It has been a fan favorite since its debut more than 10 years ago.

"You'll see like pretty much half of the store space is sportstyle, our most popular right now would be the XT-6, which is a trail running shoe, more and more people are using it now for every day," Abello said.

Their shoes are "suitable" everyday use as it could we used in the city as well as at the trails, he added.

"It's built for the city just as much as for the trail. Anybody can use it for their everyday needs. It's perfect for the city, lalo na we do a lot of walking, right? So kayang-kaya niya 'yung asphalt as much as the trail."

Abello also disclosed that Salomon is owned by sports brand ANTA Group.

"So this is the first store owned by the ANTA Group. The ANTA Group owns Salomon globally. We also have a few other brands we're bringing in officially, little by little. Wilson is also owned by ANTA."

Salomon plans to open a bigger flagship store in the next six months. However, its proposed location is still not yet confirmed, according to the executive.

Premier Volleyball League stars Fifi Sharma and Denden Lazaro-Revilla also graced the store opening.
