Catriona Gray has partnered with Scoliosis Philippines to help spread awareness about the condition, pushing for early diagnosis and treatment.

On her social media pages, the former Miss Universe opened up about dealing with scoliosis, admitting that there were times that it made her feel "insecure" about her body.

"I was diagnosed at the age of 12. And unfortunately since I had already experienced my growth spurt, it was too late to pursue a brace. That's why early diagnosis is so important," she stressed.

"My condition, most especially during my stint in international pageantry, put me on the receiving end of countless body shaming comments because of the 'unflattering' angles my body creates," she added.

Gray hopes that her story will inspire people like her who have scoliosis, assuring them that it does not have to be a limiting condition.

She also encouraged the public to do a "stripes fit check" -- a simple way of checking for scoliosis by wearing a striped shirt.

"I hope in my story, you can find the encouragement. That despite chronic pain, different shapes and sizes, proportions, and angles -- you are capable of whatever dream arises in your heart. We're #BentButNotBroken," she ended, directing her social media followers to the website of Scoliosis Philippines.

Gray rose to fame after winning the Philippines' fourth Miss Universe crown in 2018.

She went on to pursue a career in hosting, on top of modeling stints, endorsement deals, and advocacy work.
