Filipinos are once again nominated in the James Beard Awards, which is widely considered the Oscars of the culinary world.

Abi Balingit is in the running for the James Beard Foundation Book Award under the Baking and Desserts category for her cookbook, "Mayumu: Filipino-American Desserts Remixed."

"Literally crying. Thank you so much, James Beard Foundation, for the Baking and Desserts cookbook nomination for 'Mayumu,'" Balingit, a Filipino-American, said in an Instagram post. "Never in a million years would I have thought this would happen to me."

Content creator Abi Marquez, known to many as "Lumpia Queen," is nominated for the James Beard Foundation Broadcast Media Award under the Social Media Account category. The award covers "non-fiction works in English covering food and beverage topics appearing widely for the first time in the United States." 

Also included in this year's lineup is the Filipino media company FEATR, which has three works nominated in Broadcast Media Award categories: two under Visual Media-Long Form and one under Docuseries Visual Media.

The founder of FEATR, Erwan Heussaff, won in the 2023 James Beard Awards under the social media category.
