MANILA -- Actress-socialite Heart Evangelista is proud of her husband Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero as new Senate president.

In a post on Instagram, Evangelista posted snaps of Escudero's oath taking at the Senate office.

Senators on Monday elected Escudero in a surprise leadership change on the heels of several controversial investigations being conducted by the chamber.

Escudero replaced Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, who had led the Senate since 2022.

Last February, Evangelista and Escudero renewed their vows in Balesin island where they got married in 2015.
