MANILA -- Playwright Floy Quintos took to social media on Tuesday to address inquiries and speculations surrounding his latest play "Grace."

In a statement posted on his Facebook account, Quintos sought to clarify various aspects of the upcoming production, shedding light on its origins and the involvement of individuals connected to the narrative.

"I have been asked many questions about my new play. So let me just answer all concerns with this short statement," he wrote.

Quintos went on to provide key details about "Grace," revealing that it is a new play inspired by events that transpired in Lipa from 1948 to 1951. Quintos emphasized that he independently developed, researched, and wrote the play over a three-year period, clarifying that "Grace" was not a commissioned work.

In his statement, Quintos addressed the role of the Lat-Castillo family and the community of Lipa Carmel in relation to the production. He made it clear that they are not involved in the production and are not recipients of any financial benefits from it.

"As responsible theater professionals, I and the team behind 'Grace' acknowledge the importance of their request and respectfully reiterate the positions of the Lat-Castillo family and the Religious Community of Lipa Carmel to the viewing public," Quintos wrote.

"Grace" weaves a fictionalized narrative based on the so-called "Lipa Miracle," recounting the alleged events that unfolded at the Carmelite monastery in Lipa, Batangas, in September 1948. The play delves into the supposed series of apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary over a span of 15 days, focusing on the encounters experienced by a 21-year-old novice named Teresita Castillo.

Among the cast members are performers such as Stella Cañete-Mendoza, Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino, Frances Makil-Ignacio, Missy Maramara, Matel Patayon, Leo Rialp, Dennis Marasigan, Nelsito Gomez, Jojo Cayabyab, and Raphne Catorce.

"Grace" is directed by Dexter M. Santos and will be available from May 25 to June 16 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Theater in Circuit Makati.
