MANILA Actor John Prats shared his family's journey in opening a resort in Batangas.

In an interview with Bernadette Sembrano, Prats recalled that their parents Daniel and Alma juggled various businesses while they were pursuing their careers in showbiz.

"It was a tough journey for them also. Nung nakikita namin 'yun, naaalala ko ngayon na ang hirap pala 'yung pinagdaanan nila," Prats said.

"As in talagang traumatized sila. We were trying to look for a new negosyo aside from us being an artista and my dad is trying to look for ano ba 'yung purpose niya," he added.

Sharing how they decided to go into the resort business, Prats said Nayomi Sanctuary Resort started as the venue for their wedding.

"Dapat resthouse lang talaga 'to nung ikakasal na ako. Minadali ng dad ko itayo 'yung apat na villas kasi gusto niya dito ako ikasal," the actor said.

"Ta's after nung wedding, sabi ko, 'Dad, why don't we share the experience that we had, ta's i-open natin, gawin nating resort," he added.

Asked what they learned from managing a business, Prats said: "Don't be scared to try kasi mas masakit 'yung 'di mo ni-try. 'Yung inisip mo lang ta's 'di mo sinubukan, 'yun 'yung failure. But 'yung approach na laban nang laban lang even with concerts when I direct."

"Minsan iniisip ko parang imposible pero when I push myself and nangyari siya, wow. Pero kung hindi at least I tried," he added.

"I learn so much from them also, sobrang fortunate lang din talaga ako and blessed to work with them. Ang galing, very professional. I tried to grab kung ano 'yung pwede kong matutunan sa kanila."

Prats is still happy that they are still able to work in showbiz while managing their businesses.

"Hindi na kami nag-aano sa awards or sa kahit ano'ng recognition pero the fact that we're still here in the industry ... 'yun na 'yung accomplishment naming dalawa," he said.
