Pia Wurtzbach can now add "global fashion influencer" to her growing list of achievements.

This as the former Miss Universe received the Global Fashion Influencer of the Year trophy at the EMIGALA Awards held in Dubai over the weekend. 

She wore a stunning couture creation by Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco, who presented her with the award.

In her speech, Wurtzbach spoke of the importance of using one's platform to give back to the community.

"It's amazing to be glammed up, to be in the industry of beauty and fashion, but I want to remind other people that look up to me to put purpose in the things that you do," she said.

"It's great to be here receiving an award, but it's also great to have an impact and purpose," she continued. "So find your passion, find the advocacy that you really care about, because this platform that we all have is truly powerful, and sometimes we take that for granted."

"Even though it's nice to be on the red carpet, it's also nice to really give back. So that's what I want to remind everybody."

Now on its fourth edition, the EMIGALA aims to recognize Arab and international talent. In 2021, Cinco and fellow Dubai-based Filipino designer Furne Amato were awarded for their contributions to the fashion industry. 

This is not the first time that Wurtzbach received an award in Dubai. In 2020, she was named Woman of the Year by the luxury travel magazine Xpedition.

After Milan, Pia Wurtzbach heads to Paris for Fashion Week
