As Metro Manila continues to grapple with the searing heat from El Niño, some have found a literal oasis in the middle of the metro.

Arroceros Forest Park, fondly called "the last lung of Manila" owing to its lush greenery, stands as a testament to nature in the midst of drab gray buildings.

Aside from the aesthetic value of the park, its trees provide precious cover from the searing rays of the sun. Some even say the park has a relatively cooler heat index compared to the actual temperature because of this.

Open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the park is the perfect place to get away not just from the heat but the hectic rush of the city.
