Peppa Pig fans in Asia rejoice!  A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday to announce the construction of the world's largest stand-alone Peppa Pig outdoor theme park in Shanghai, China.

The park, slated to open in 2027, will be located on Changxing Island in Shanghai's Chongming district. This 48-acre entertainment destination marks Hasbro's first Peppa Pig theme park in Asia and will be a major draw for families across the region.

Local officials are excited about the positive impact the park will have on tourism. "The Peppa Pig outdoor theme park will further enhance Shanghai as a global tourism destination," said Cai Xiaofei, deputy director at Changxing Island Administrative Committee. "We believe this theme park can serve as a flagship attraction for the island, helping to establish its own unique brand identity."

Peppa Pig has become a beloved character in China since her debut in 2015, with over 10 billion views and widespread popularity among children and families.

The park promises innovative features, themed areas, rides, an immersive show, and even a themed hotel specifically designed for the Chinese market, catering to the multi-generational family dynamic.

"We are committed to bringing more quality attractions to visitors in China and across Asia," said Owen Zhao, president of Max-Matching Entertainments, Hasbro's strategic partner for the project.
