Chantal Schmidt rocked an upcycled modern Filipiniana as she started her journey to Egypt for Miss Eco International 2024.

The Philippine representative said she wanted her departure look to not just "reflect my edgy sense of fashion" but also "show that there are many ways that we can champion sustainable fashion."

She paired a butterfly sleeve top with a mini skirt, and completed the look with distressed denim boots.

"I wanted to show that garments can take on a new life and personality and story, and all it took is a little creativity!" she said, crediting the designers behind her outfit. "The fashion industry is one of the biggest causes of pollution to this planet, so even by altering or repurposing your old clothes, you can contribute in saving our beautiful earth!"

As she waved the Filipino flag at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Schmidt expressed excitement over her "adventure" in Egypt, where she will aim for the Philippines' third Miss Eco International title.

So far, Kathleen Paton and Cynthia Thomalla have been successful in winning the crown for the country.

"An adventure awaits! See you soon, Egypt!" Schmidt said, drawing support from her fans and fellow beauty queens in the comment section of her post.

Shortly after, Schmidt revealed via Instagram Stories that she hit a roadblock in her trip to Egypt.

"Me and a few other girls are currently stuck in Dubai. Flights are getting delayed and canceled," she said on Wednesday, not giving further details. "Will keep you all posted."

Schmidt was picked as the country's representative in Miss Eco International 2024 after finishing as a finalist in The Miss Philippines 2023, which was won by Alethea Ambrosio.

The Miss Eco International 2024 coronation night will be held on April 28.
