MANILA -- Looking to replicate the glowing, dewy makeup with a seemingly flawless finish seen on Korean drama stars?

According to Hwaju, makeup artist of Jenny House, a trailblazing beauty salon renowned for its comprehensive services in hair, makeup, and cosmetics, the key lies in two essential secrets: skincare and hydration.

“The most important thing is to have a good skincare. So that moisture, proper exfoliation so your skin will look flawless. Those two have to be met so that healthy skin and bright skin can be achieved,” she explained through a translator, during the K-Beauty Hangout held at a mall in Taguig City.

Hwaju noticed most Filipinos who had their make-up done had dry skin.

“It is because of the hot and humid weather, most people she did make-up most had dry skin,” she said.

“But even if they have dry skin, they put thick base make up. As what I have mentioned, skin care is important. Instead of applying oily, rich, cream skincare products, use moisturized rich products or water essence,” she added.

Hwaju recommended using water essence.

“Try applying several layers to achieve that moisturized look. Rather than applying foundation with the same layer, try focusing on the highlight of the face and on the external features of the face try a gradient effects,” she said. “It is not about creating a different look for yourself but accentuate your features.”

The K-Beauty Hangout allowed mall goers to immerse themselves in the world of K-beauty through various booths and an enlightening lecture by the makeup artist from Jenny House, Korea.

Jenny House is home to some of Korea's most beloved celebrities, including Son Yejin from the 2019-hit K-drama, “Crash Landing On You”, and Park Shin-hye from this year’s hit K-drama, “Doctor Slump.”

“K-Beauty Hangout” was organized in celebration of the “Korea Beauty Festival 2024” happening in Seoul from May 31 to June 30.

The festival, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST), Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), and Visit Korea Committee, will showcase the best of K-Beauty, featuring experiential booths tailored for foreign tourists, tourism product sales, and a diverse array of K-culture events.
