MANILA — Valorant on Wednesday released Clove, a non-binary controller agent.

Clove's character was first revealed during VCT Masters in Madrid, while their character became online across Valorant's servers Tuesday (Wednesday morning in the Philippines.)

Like other controller characters, Clove can place smoke on the map.

What makes Clove different from other controllers, however is their ability to place smoke while dead.

Clove also has "Meddle", which deteriorates targets caught inside a bubble they throw.

They can also absorb the life energy of a fallen enemy through "Pick-Me-Up" which is quite similar to duelist Reyna's abilities.

Clove can also come back to life in a round where she uses her ultimate.

“While we always do our research, we are not the full experts in each space. For Clove, their Scottish culture and non-binary identity were big aspects of this. These take time and nuance to deeply understand so they manifest in authentic ways," Agents Lead John “RiotMEMEMEMEME” Goscicki said.

Clove's inclusion in Valorant's agent pool was not the first time Valorant placed LGBTQ+ references into their character lore and storyline.

In 2022, Riot Games released an illustration of sentinel character Killjoy and duelist Raze kissing, implying that they identify as sapphic.
