The Bacolod-based Barangay Granada MassKara Dancers are set to take part in the city's Chinese New Year Night Parade on February 10. The event, now on its 22nd year, is organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).

They are part of a lineup of 13 local and 16 international groups, which also include Japan's Avantgardey, Light Dancers from Spain, the Universe of Lights from Germany, China's Guangxi Arts Troupe, and the Tibet Chamdo Troupe.

Choreographer Jordan Casabuena, who leads the Barangay Granada Masskara Dancers, is honored to be invited to this year's event. "We can't wait to bring this unique and proudly Filipino performance to Hong Kong. It's about time that the City of Bacolod spreads its culture far and wide, beyond the islands of the Philippines," he said in a statement released by HKTB.

The Barangay Granada Masskara Dancers recently won the local MassKara dance competition in Bacolod for the fifth time in October 2023. They also showcased their talents abroad in New York last June.

Aside from the dance performances, Hong Kong's Chinese New Year Night Parade will have nine floats presented by famous attractions such as Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park Hong Kong. Cathay is the title sponsor for the event, which is returning after a 5-year hiatus.

After the parade, the floats will be stationed at The Urban Council Centenary Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui for viewing until February 25. Victoria Harbour will also have a fireworks display on February 11. More details about Hong Kong's Chinese New Year events are available on the HKTB website.
