Bran Castle in Romania, renowned for its resemblance to Count Dracula's castle, welcomed costumed tourists in search of a true Halloween experience on Saturday (November 2).

Perched on a rock outcrop overlooking a river, Bran Castle is the closest match in the Transylvania region to the home of the fictional vampire depicted in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, as per the castle's website.

The site, a former fortress and residence of Romanian royalty, attracts visitors due to its historical significance and its association with Dracula.

Actors in gruesome costumes, along with spine-chilling decorations and video projections, greeted visitors entering the castle courtyard.

Alex Priscu, the castle manager, noted that there had been a significant demand for a Halloween event at the castle as early as 2009.

"The event is increasing phenomenally and thousands and thousands and dozens of thousands of tourists from all over the world are visiting the castle every Halloween weekend to get the whole experience that we provide them," Priscu said.
