MANILA -- The Miss Universe Organization on Saturday confirmed the withdrawal of the Miss Universe candidate from Panama, Italy Mora, from the competition. 

In an official release shared by the Miss Universe Organization on their official site on November 2, 2024, they announced the news about Panama's candidate after "undergoing evaluation by the organization's disciplinary commission".

According to the organization, Mora's case was carefully evaluated, and charged with maintaining the integrity and values of the pageant. 

Without disclosing further details on the decisions, the Miss Universe Organization asked the public to respect both parties on the result of their decisions. 

Ending their statement, the Miss Universe Organizations thanked Panama's candidate and the fans around the world as they "continue to be a platform for inspiration and positive change in the world."

The full statement is as follows: 

"The Miss Universe organization regrets to announce the withdrawal of Panama’s candidate from the Miss Universe 2024 pageant. This decision has been taken after a thorough evaluation by our disciplinary commission.

The disciplinary committee, charged with maintaining the integrity and values of the pageant, conducted a full audit of the matter and, based on the information gathered and reviewed, has concluded that withdrawal is the most appropriate course of action under the current circumstances.

It is important to note that we made this decision with the utmost respect for all parties involved. Our number one priority remains the welfare and transparency of all of our candidates, who exemplify diversity, talent, and dedication.

The Miss Universe organization wishes to stress the importance of maintaining confidentiality and respect during this process. Over the years, our pageant has been a beacon of diversity, inclusion, and empowerment for women around the world. In this regard, adhering to strong ethical principles, such as confidentiality and respect, is essential to maintaining the integrity of our organization and the well-being of our participants.

Confidentiality is a fundamental pillar of any disciplinary process. By protecting sensitive and personal information, we not only ensure fairness and equity in our decisions but also the dignity of all involved.

As we move forward, we reaffirm our dedication to these principles, inviting all our participants, supporters, and media to join us in this commitment. We kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of our Panama candidate during this time and to avoid unnecessary speculation that may negatively affect all parties involved.

Meanwhile, on their official social media page, the Miss Universe Panama Organization and Senorita Panama Official also confirmed the withdrawal of their candidate from the competition.  

"It is with deep regret that we reproduce the following statement of the Miss Universe Organization in its entirety," they wrote on their social media followed by the statement written by the Miss Universe Organization.

As of this writing, 129 candidates are still vying to be the next Miss Universe, including Philippines bet Chelsea Manalo. 

The 73rd Miss Universe competition will be held in Mexico on November 16. The pageant will be shown live on ABS-CBN's Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC on November 17.
