MANILA — Award-winning screenwriter and novelist Ricky Lee has just released a new book that targets both children and adults.

"Kung Alam N'yo Lang: Mga Kwentong Pambata Para Sa Mga Hindi Na Bata" is a collection of four stories written from the point of view of four children. It also includes illustrations by four artists.

Speaking on DZMM, Lee said that although "Kung Alam N'yo Lang" can be considered a children's book, it should also appeal to adults who have forgotten how it is to be young.

"Pwede siyang basahin ng mga bata, pero in the end, mas bagay siyang basahin ng mga adults, lalo na 'yung mga adult na nakalimot na sa kanilang pagkabata," he said.

"Naging jaded na ang paniniwala nila tungkol sa kamatayan, o tungkol sa Diyos, and so on. So mas bagay pa rin siya sa adults pero pwede na siyang, with parental guidance, ipabasa sa ibang mga bata," Lee added.

"Ang mga bata ngayon, handa na. Dapat mas ihanda natin sila sa realidad ng buhay kasi 'pag sobrang pinrotektahan tapos dumating 'yung pangyayari sa buhay, mas hindi sila protektado, mas kawawa sila," he said, adding that he got the idea after "attending a workshop on writing children's books," he said.
