MANILA – We all know that Vice Ganda launched his cosmetics line last year.

But did you know that the business has a touching story behind it?

In an exclusive interview with Metro.Style, the popular comedian revealed that Vice Cosmetics is his way of honoring his mother.

It all started when Vice Ganda accidentally broke his mother’s lipstick while playing with it as a little boy.

His mom told him that she has yet to finish paying for the lipstick in installments: “‘Anak, wala na lipstick ko. Hindi ko pa siya tapos bayaran.’”

Realizing how inaccessible beauty products could be, Vice Ganda dreamed of creating a budget-friendly cosmetics line, specializing in lipsticks.

He noted how a swipe of lipstick can easily brighten up a woman’s appearance and make her feel better about herself.

“Kahit anong nanay, kahit anong estado sa buhay, mahirap man o mayaman, magkano man ang sweldo, may trabaho man o wala, meron at meron ‘yang lipstick,” the “It’s Showtime” host explained.

“Kahit hirap na hirap na siya sa buhay, kaya ng lipstick magbigay ng kulay sa mukha ng isang babae. Hindi na masyadong nababanaag ang hirap na nararamdaman niya,” he added.

True enough, Vice Ganda’s lipsticks won’t burn a hole in the pocket at P195 per piece, and P1,450 for a set of eight.

The comedian stressed the importance of knowing his market and giving them what they deserve.

“Because if you don’t give them their money’s worth, edi pinagkakakitaan mo lang sila,” he said.
