In a Facebook post, the Baras, Rizal forest preserve said the park rangers reported the sighting of the Amorphophallus rostratus to their site officers "who confirmed the native species with friends from the academe."

According to Masungi Georeserve, an indigenous ranger who lived in the mountains said the flower is called "biga" by the locals, who "cut and cook the stalk in boiling water before eating it."
