MANILA -- Botejyu has opened its newest store in Greenbelt 3, Makati, and is offering new premium dishes.

Greenbelt 3 marks the 13th branch of the Botejyu, with outlets in O Square 2 Greenhills, Ayala North Exchange, and SM Fairview set to open soon.

Established in 1946, Boteyju branches worldwide thrive by staying true to their promise of delivering authentic Japanese cuisine. They do this by staying consistent with taste through process and ingredients. For instance, Botejyu Philippines imports 70% of ingredients directly from Japan, ensuring quality and flavor.

While famous for its trademark okonomiyaki and okosoba, Botejyu has a surprisingly extensive menu, which it continually updates to suit the Philippines’ preference.

“Aside from our specialty okonomiyaki and okosoba, we also have ramen, tempura, takoyaki, wagyu beef, oko, gyoza, katsu, don buri, yakisoba, teppan, plus other Japanese comfort food, under one roof,” shared Laine de Jesus-Vallar, vice present and marketing director for Viva International Food and Restaurants, Inc.

Have you been to Botejyu? We list our recommendations, including new premium items.

1. Pork Tonkotsu Ramen with Char Sui Pork

No one thinks of eating ramen in Botejyu, but they should. This bowl can stand toe to toe with those served at specialty ramen shops with its rich milky broth, tender and succulent chashu, and curly custom noodles (imported from Japan). It’s also a tad less expensive than other specialty ramen bowls. Jeeves de Veyra

2. Seattle Roll

Cream cheese and salmon classically go well-together. In the Seattle Roll, the pair is combined with sweet-sour sushi rice, avocado and lettuce, for a filling but refreshing bite. Jeeves de Veyra

3. Pressed Unagi Sushi

What’s not to love with sushi generously topped with grilled unagi that nicely brown and sweet? An order may be pricey, but you get what you pay for with generous unagi portions. Jeeves de Veyra

4. Assorted Sashimi Platter

With ingredients flown in from Japan, you’re assured only the freshest is served in this sashimi platter. You can have it with three kinds of seafood, but we recommend getting the full five kinds – the scallops should be the first one to disappear. Jeeves de Veyra

5. Warabimochi with Vanilla Ice Cream Sundae

Soft mochi with cornflakes, vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of syrup, there’s so much delicious texture in this dessert! Jeeves de Veyra

6. Teppan Baked Banana with Vanilla Ice Cream

For sharing, this dessert comes highly recommended. Not too sweet with teppan-fried bananas, drizzled with chocolate sauce, and topped with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and soy powder. The latter is what makes this dish different from just fried bananas and ice cream, as soy powder brings in a nutty-less-sweet polvoron-like-milky taste to the dessert. Jeeves de Veyra
