MANILA - A tech company based in the upscale Bonifacio Global City would soon open the doors of its fire exit to the public to showcase a collection of paintings and wall installations for free.

MDi chief executive officer Myla Villanueva has been on a quest to break the monotony of her company's 32-story stairwell by adorning its plain walls with visually appealing pieces made by emerging Filipino artists.

"Technology is really a creative process. We think that it is right-brained and not left, but I think it is really both so we created a space that really exposes our programmers and engineers to artwork so that they can get inspired with the creativity," said Villanueva, whose company is involved in providing tech solutions for conglomerates and online payment systems.

"We also chose artists who are not well-known yet. It sort of imbibes our culture of loving emerging technologies and taking chances on careers of wonderful, emerging artists," she told ABS-CBN News.

About 64 pieces sought by Villanueva's "favorite gallerists" from young Filipino artists around the country would be exhibited at the MDi Corporate Center starting next year.

The collection would be updated every 6 to 12 months, she said, without naming particular works that would be on display.

Villanueva declined to reveal the collection's worth, saying: "These are pieces that are accessible. It is really about exposure, not price."
