MANILA -- Sony launched its "Play at Home" initiative on Wednesday (Manila time) as coronavirus-induced lockdowns across the globe continue, allowing PlayStation 4 owners to download two games for free.

Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said the PS4 games "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection" and "Journey" are available for free through digital downloads from 8 p.m. on April 15 until 8 p.m. on May 5 (US PDT).

We are deeply grateful to everyone practicing physical distancing and take our responsibility as a home entertainment platform seriously, so we are asking our community to continue supporting the safe choice and the need to Play At Home," he said in a post on the PlayStation blog.

Users in Germany and China will not have access to the "Uncharted" collection and will be instead allowed to download free copies of "Knack 2" and "Journey" within the same period.

Aside from free games, Sony's Play at Home initiative also includes a $10-million fund to support independent developers that are experiencing financial difficulties amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
