Sonny Angara, who had earlier been all over the news for testing positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Tootsy, speaking on DZMM Saturday, acknowledged that she was at the time terrified — not only of the possibility that she may never see her husband alive again, but also that she might not be able to feed her kids.

According to Tootsy, there was plenty of moments during that difficult period — around the week before Palm Sunday— when she wanted to break down, but could not because she had to “stay strong” for their kids. She also recalled how she swallowed her pride, and began asking people for the most basic of necessities.

“You can’t be proud when you don’t know what to do. That’s when I texted people: ‘I need help. I need water. Can you send us food?’ I’ve never asked for food and water my whole life and that’s when I realized that there is really goodness in this world,” she said.

Tootsy said that while there were people who chose to stay away from her and her family, there was roughly an equal number that began leaving food at the front of their home.

It was just last Monday when it was announced that her senator husband had recovered from COVID-19. He had tested negative for the virus, and was declared pneumonia-free.
