MANILA – The latest world university subject rankings are out.

Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines (UP) and De La Salle University – dubbed as the country’s “Big 3” schools – made their mark in various subjects as shown in the 2017 World University Rankings by Subject by UK-based Quacquarelli Symonds.

Ateneo ranked 284th in Arts and Humanities, while UP and La Salle were at the 293rd spot and the 401-450 bracket, respectively.

In Social Sciences and Management, UP was at No. 274, followed by Ateneo at 387th place and La Salle in the 401-450 bracket.

Only UP made the cut in Engineering and Technology and Life Sciences and Medicine, placing in the 401-450 bracket in both subject areas.

The 2017 QS World University Rankings by Subject covered 46 subjects and is based on global surveys of academics and employers as well as research impact.

Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology – both in the United States – dominated this year’s rankings, topping 15 and 12 subjects, respectively.
