MANILA -- Nearly 60 giant cakes were displayed at the lobby of the World Trade Center for the cake competition of Bakery Fair 2019, which concluded on Sunday at the World Trade Center.

The competition served as one of the highlights of Bakery Fair 2019. The minimum height for the cakes was 5 feet, with nature as the theme of this year’s competition.

First place went to cake entry number 60 by Rodolfo V. Labios, who created a colorful, giant cake inspired by the “Under the Sea” number of "The Little Mermaid." He took home P80,000 cash prize.

Second placer was cake entry number 13 by Ramil Gillesania who won P50,000. Third placer was cake entry number 19 by Reco Carl Ferrer, who bagged P30,000.

The winners were chosen from among 60 participants, who joined and presented their colorful creations.

Foreign delegates from Taiwan (Kao Chui Tsung), Vietnam (Kao Sieu Luc), Malaysia (Peter Khoo Po Min), Myanmar (Madam Thin Thin Kyao), Singapore (Lee Lai) and (Hong Kong) (Leo Chan) also flew in to Manila and judged the cake competition.

Meanwhile, a seven-foot giant cake was meticulously created by award-winning cake designer James Anton Uy of Cubcakes Bakery. He is a respected baking and cake decorating instructor and the 2013 winner of Bakery Fair's cake display competition, where he bested even some of the more established names in the local baking industry.
