Joining a trend among Filipino celebrities and netizens, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa on Wednesday answered the question given to Maxine Medina during the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, to the amusement of journalists and his fellow law enforcers.

During the pageant, Medina was asked, "What is the most significant change you’ve seen in the world in the last 10 years?"

Here's Dela Rosa's Miss Universe answer:

"Iyong technology. Noong maliit pa ako, nagpunta kami sa mga kapitbahay namin na may TV para lang makanood. Ngayon ang mga bata pwede na maka-access sa internet, kung anu-ano ang nalalaman nila."

"Kaya iyung level of awareness ng mga tao, kahit maliliit na mga bata, alam nila kung ano ang nangyayari. Ang kanilang access to information, very easy for everyone," the PNP chief said.

Medina's answer during the 65th Miss Universe pageant was met with surprise and dismay by fans, with former beauty queens also expressing disappointment.

"The last 10 years of being here in the world is that I saw all the people being in one event like this in Miss Universe, and it's something big to us that we are one, as one nation, we are all together," Medina said. - with a report from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News
