MANILA – Sierra Leone’s representative to the Miss Universe pageant arrived in Manila on Tuesday, with the beauty queen praising Filipinos for giving her “the best welcome.”

“The Filipinos are so warm. They gave me the best welcome. Thank you all,” Hawa Kamara wrote in an Instagram post, which showed a video of her at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Kamara is the first woman from Sierra Leone to compete in the Miss Universe pageant.

Representatives from Thailand, US Virgin Islands, Brazil and Guyana have also arrived in Manila to prepare for the international beauty competition.
