In the more than two decades that she’s been in the local entertainment scene, Jodi Sta. Maria has magnificently cemented her reputation as one of the most versatile and exceptional actresses in the local entertainment scene. Through the years, she has astounded us with her dramatic chops via her teleserye portrayals that truly made a mark in the minds of avid viewers.

This 2024, we got to see Jodi in another light as she dabbles in the action genre for the first time as she takes on the titular role in the well-loved primetime series “Lavender Fields.” Let’s look back on five of her most amazing action scenes as Jasmin Flores and Lavender that absolutely enthralled us and got us hooked in this episode of Friday 5.

Opening this list is that scene wherein she singlehandedly fought the minions of the Buenavidezes who stormed into their house one night in search of the money allegedly given to her by her lover, Tyrone (Jericho Rosales). Since they didn’t have anyone to help them out in that precarious situation, Jasmin courageously fought them using a pan, some boiling cooking oil, and the fire from their gas stove, along with her unbelievable strength. Unfortunately, those weren’t enough to save them, as she didn’t just lose her mom; she also fell in the hands of one of the henchmen, Max (Victor Neri).

A few years later, she and Max unexpectedly met at a party wherein he was able to identify her. She initially tried to insist that she was not Jasmin, but he didn’t believe her, so an intense altercation ensued between them. He almost shot her but got distracted by JP (Miguel Vergara), which enabled Lavender to fight back and knock him down with all her might.

The long wait was over for those who had been waiting for Lavender and Iris’ (Janine Gutierrez) face-off, as it finally happened sooner than we expected. It took place at the Buenavidez residence when Iris invited her and her two other friends to come over, without knowing that her enemy was already under her nose. Lavender suddenly showed up in an all-black ensemble with a face cover in front of Iris when she was left alone in her room, and a nail-biting brawl sparked between them.

Just when Iris was about to remove his face cover, Lavender managed to escape from Iris and locked her out of her room, giving herself a leeway to change clothes and go back to Iris and her friends as if nothing transpired.

Before becoming official allies, the partnership of Jasmin and Agent Zandro Fernandez (Albert Martinez) started on a really bad and intense note, as they used to see each other as enemies. Since he was the one assigned to investigate the murder of Tyrone, Agent Zandro had been looking for Jasmin for years until their paths finally crossed. A fisticuff ensued between them as Jasmin tried to flee but failed because he was too strong, agile, and dexterous.

And lastly, now that they’re already friends who share the same goal of toppling down the Buenavidezes, as well as finding out their involvements in the kidnapping of her estranged daughter and the tragic demise of his family, Jasmin has become Agent Zandro’s reliable partner in his next operations.
