Before summer is officially gone, Vice Ganda had a quick beach trip to San Juan, La Union with his friends Tonton and Tetay. And what’s the best thing to do in La Union? Surfing! The group decided to take basic lessons and catch some waves just in time for sunset. The experience, although epic fail, was hilariously entertaining, as seen on Vice’s latest vlog on YouTube titled “Little MEMErmaids sa Elyu”.

The video opens with Vice sashaying around the façade of their villa. Awra here and there! Then, they went out to try La Union’s famous halo-halo and begin their surfing lessons with 19-year-old instructor, JC, who taught them basic stances.

Of course, the bonding wouldn’t be complete without the punchlines and bardagulan moments. Vice challenged Tonton, “Tingnan natin kung hindi mawawasak ‘yung surfboard,” and then he jestingly narrated how his friend transformed from whale to human. “Dati siyang butanding na mabait kaya biniyayaan ng pagkakataon ng hari ng karagatan na magkaroon ng mga paa at ma-experience ang pagiging tao, kaya ngayon babalik kami sa karagatan.”

The trio encountered a lot of distractions during their basic training, such as Vice’s shoulder bag getting wet by the waves. They had second thoughts about surfing, especially Tonton, but Vice’s only motivation was the incredible photos they’d have in the stunning surf town.

When Tonton finally tried to hop on the surfboard for real, he panicked a lot and was wiped out by the waves after several attempts. And his reactions cracked us up from start to finish! The struggle was real for Tetay as well, who gave up after just a few attempts.

When it was Vice’s turn, his number one concern was his headband, which was dragged out by the waves on his second try. The Unkabogable Star then made fun of his exposed hairline, like he usually does on It’s Showtime. Vice almost managed to stand up on the board but failed to balance his weight when the wave hit.

“Itigil na natin ang pantasyang ito,” he said. Though it wasn’t a success, still they had fun and it seemed Tonton was enticed to train more, saying he could’ve done it with more time to practice. “Nakaka-excite siya pero nakakatakot talaga,” he shared.

So, Vice’s tip to those who wish to try surfing is to put your mind to it. “If you want to try doing this, kailangan buong-buo ang loob mo, gusto mo talagang matuto. Kasi, kami, gusto lang naman naming mag-trip kaya wala kaming na-achieve.”
