Vhong Navarro is an exceptional dancer, a brilliant comedian, and a versatile thespian throughout his three-decade career in the local entertainment scene. But before he could start his incredible showbiz career, Vhong was a simple kid dreaming big. As we see in these cute throwback photos of Vhong, he was a wide eyed wonder, seemingly focused and determined to share his extraordinary talent to the world.

He started off as a member of the all-male dance ionic dance group Streetboys and later on ventured in acting when he made his debut via the 90’s classic sitcom Home Along Da Riles.

Vhong’s first hosting stint was via ABS-CBN’s long-running Sunday variety show ASAP, wherein he used to be one of its talented mainstays from 1996 to 2013. He even became a part of its in-house boyband called “Kanto Boys,” along with Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford, and John Lloyd Cruz, that truly thrilled and amused us with their humor-filled production numbers.

From 2003 to 2007, he joined Toni Gonzaga, Archie Alemania, and Drew Arellano in delivering news satires as one of the “tadjocks” or news anchors of the comical news program “Wazzup Wazzup,” which was aired daily on Studio 23.

In that same year, the 44-year-old actor-host became part of the last incarnation of the iconic noontime program Magandang Tanghali Bayan billed MTB Ang Saya-Saya, as well as Philippines’ first live gag show Yes, Yes Show!.

In 2006, he and his recurring onscreen partner and real-life best friend Toni Gonzaga teamed up as the main hosts of the Friday night variety show Gudtaym.

He is well-remembered donning the Mars Ravelo superhero character Lastikman, and appearing in the well-loved teleseryes I Love Betty La Fea and May Bukas Pa, and the sitcom Home Sweetie Home.

His biggest hosting gig came in 2009 when he was tapped to be one of the hosts of ABS-CBN’s longest-running noontime program It’s Showtime, which was initially slated as the morning talent search Showtime and continues this successful stint today, 12 years after the show’s premiere.

In 2019, Vhong also made weekend evenings extra entertaining hosting the talent search Your Moment alongside Luis Manzano.
