When a hugot cuts deep, it’s probably from Jackie!

Recently, Jackie Gonzaga, affectionately known as Ate Girl, has been grabbing viewers’ attention with her hosting skills and her enlightening, inspiring, and relatable “hugots” on “It’s Showtime,” particularly in the “EXpecially For You” segment. As Vice Ganda playfully puts it, Jackie is the best “EXpecially For You” host around.

In one episode, while interviewing a featured ex-couple, Jackie couldn’t help but challenge the pair to reflect on their 8-year relationship, telling them that they should’ve grown together and not repeat past mistakes. “Hindi n’yo ba na-a-appreciate na nagma-mature kayo together? At the same time ‘yung relationship n’yo, pwede rin mag-mature nang magkasama kayo.” Vice Ganda quickly stepped in to comfort a crying Jackie with a warm hug.

It was like Jackie’s heart got an unexpected little poke when she was asked in another episode what she’d do if she runs into her ex. Trying to put on a brave face, Jackie got real and confessed, “Iiwas ako tapos iiyak na lang pag-uwi.” Vice totally understood where Jackie was coming from and offered some sage advice: embrace the pain. As Vice put it, “Kahit ano’ng deny mo sa past at sa present, hindi naman siya nawawala. Darating ang panahon na haharapin mo pa rin siya. Nade-delay lang ‘yung oras ng pagharap mo.”

In one scene, Jackie was just supposed to act out a breakup line as part of the script, saying something like, “Sorry, ayaw ko na. Ang sakit-sakit na.” But, surprise, her impromptu acting took a real turn as she ended up getting emotional for real.

Everyone was caught off guard when she started tearing up after Vice mentioned ‘closure’ in relation to the story shared by the ‘expecial couple’ in another episode. That’s when the playful joke kicked in—the “It’s Showtime” family started saying Jackie should be the next one to take a seat in the ‘expecial’ chairs.

Jackie’s heart really felt the weight of the ‘ex couple’ and “It’s Showtime” hosts’ chat about being a martyr in love, especially when Vice outed her for having endured a lot in the name of love. But hey, Jackie doesn’t regret any of the sacrifices she made for romance.
