As we all know, It’s Showtime began 14 years ago in 2009 with Vice Ganda and Jhong Hilario as among the pioneer figures of it. They started out as hurados and eventually became its hosts, who never fail to make us laugh everyday with their antics and banters whenever they share the stage.

And in this Kapamilya Update feature, let’s look back on some of the droll jokes that they uttered in their kulitanmoments that indeed provided us with good vibes!

First off was when the Unkabogable Star jested that seeing a photo of Jhong reminded him of Korean star Cha Eun Woo, calling him Cha Unggoy. He clapped back at her by tagging her “Chaka Mo,” which got her quite ‘offended’ as it was more unacceptable than being called a ‘horse.’

Apart from being a host, Jhong also plays the role of the “Gong-bassador” in Tawag ng Tanghalan, giving them more time to banter and unleash their jokes. For an instance, they got us laughing out loud when they demonstrated their skills in speaking Chinese. According to Vice, the translation of “ilabas mo ang nanay ko” is “siomai mami (derived from “show my mommy”), to which she was ‘shameful’ of. Jhong, being competitive that he is, didn’t let himself be defeated by saying that the translation for “tito, where’s tita?” is “chong xi chang?” (or “tsong, si tiyang?”). These might be old-school jokes, but were still fool-proof.

Jhong then tried to do a “knock knock” joke using the name of TNT contestant Shekinah. However, Vice pre-empted it as she already knew where the pun is going to. Their witticisms on celebrity names were also “havey na havey”, making the madlang people burst in laughter.

There was also a time when they teamed up against Ogie Alcasid and Vhong Navarro as they debated about the best slippers. Vice boasted that hers could take one to his/her destination without having to walk, aptly calling it “tsineleport” (derived from “teleport”). On the other hand, Jhong bragged that his can make someone fall asleep since it’s dubbed “sleepers.”

The hilarious duo also mocked one another regarding the sea creatures that they look alike. As the Unkabogable Star said that he could pass as a character in the classic animated flick “Finding Nemo”, Jhong tried to retort by saying she’s really “pandagat” because she’s a seahorse, but she ‘ridiculed’ him for how old his joke was.

As they recalled one of the questions in the episode of Miss Q&A the day before, Jhong said that “Bon-Bon”, whose surname is “Nan” is actually close to her. Their co-host Vhong Navarro put them together and was able to form “Bonbonan” (or “bumbunan”), which offended her and made her almost walk out. She chanted “hindi naman masakit, hindi naman masakit, pero pwede manakit” and jestingly hit Vhong.
