His being full-blooded Korean and not fluent in Filipino have never hindered Ryan Bang from earning the admiration of many, not to mention from becoming one of the mainstays of “It’s Showtime” ever since his showbiz career took off in 2010 through his victorious stint in “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010.”

But aside from being a host, we have also witnessed him play another important role on the show—as the translator whenever there are Korean guests, regardless if they’re celebrities or not. However, there were several instances when his co-hosts asked him on a whim to translate random words or even songs in Korean, to which he enthusiastically obliged.

Revisit some of Ryan's entertaining and spontaneous Korean 101 lessons through the clips that we collated in this Kapamilya Update feature!

Let’s begin with that instance when Ryan taught us about several Korean animal sounds in an episode of “Tawag ng Tanghalan.” He was quizzed by hosts Jhong Hilario and Vhong Navarro on what sounds doves, chickens, goats, pigs, and cows make in their country, which were totally different from how we interpret them here in the Philippines. In another episode of the noontime program, he went on to teach us about the sound that babies make in Korea.

There was also one December when His co-hosts also once challenged him to sing the Korean version of all-time favorite holiday anthem “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, which he enthusiastically accepted.

Ryan’s Tagalog to Korean translation skills were put to the test anew in a recent episode of “It’s Showtime” as his co-hosts requested a sample of the Korean version of the iconic OPM song “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar. It was after he imparted as trivia during the “Throwbox” segment that the song was once famous in his home country.

In another episode of “Throwbox,” Ryan once again amused everyone when he demonstrated what mice and cats sound like in Korea after his co-hosts asked him to as he imparted trivia about the long-running animated series “Tom and Jerry.”

The Kapamilya hosts may have jokingly presumed that he was just bluffing, but Ryan was able to prove that he’s been telling them the truth. It was after the hosts were able to speak with a female kababayan of him who was part of the live madlang audience, and it was confirmed that he'd been truthful to them ever since.
