MANILA – Several websites were defaced Friday, a few days before the May 9 polls.

The following websites, which also include those belonging to private entities, have been defaced:

All of these websites contain a similar message from a group calling itself ''Pinoy Hackers''. The message urges voters to cast their ballots on May 9 and to be vigilant when it comes to poll fraud.

The purported hackers also warned voters not to be swayed by black propaganda before the elections, to make sure their votes are counted on election day, and to take part in the counting of results.

The previous months saw several websites of government agencies and bodies and of private companies defaced or hacked, with the Commission on Elections taking the worst hit.
