Always the star of the feast, lechon evokes celebration, abundance, happy memories and the rich savoriness of perfectly roasted pork. And while there are regional preferences and cooking styles, we all have our favorites. Here are our top five favorite lechons of the moment.

We’re fairly sure you already have your die-hard favorite lechons, but we want to bring your attention to the newer lechon brands that you may not yet have on your radar.

Every single lechon on our list meets our criteria for excellently-done pig: crispy skin that stays crackly for hours, tender and evenly-cooked meat, flavors that seep well into the deepest part of the meat, and well-balanced seasoning that blends together beautifully on your tongue.

Abub’s Cebuana Lechon Stuffed generously with lemongrass, native garlic, leeks and chilies (at least the spicy version), this Cebu-style lechon has a delicious smokey fragrance and well-seasoned meat. We love how you can buy this lechon per kilo, so you don’t have to wait for a huge celebration to indulge in your favorite lechon. Made by master roasters flown in from Cebu. IG: @abubslechonph.

General’s Lechon This Negros-style lechon is made using a traditional recipe from San Carlos, Negros Occidental. It has an irreistible herby-garlicky signature flavor, and crisp, crackling skin. Their branch in Uptown Mall, BGC also serves superb lechon sisig and pritchon, among other dishes. A bit expensive, but so worth it. IG: @generalslechon.

Relatively new addition to the menu, Margarita Forés serves organic Negros lechon flown in from Bacolod. It’s not always available, so you have to watch out for the announcements on their social media. Right now, it’s served Fridays to Sundays at their One Rockwell branch only. Enjoy this with the signature sauces and condiments. Whole pigs are available for preorder, and you can also enjoy the lechon as sinigang or sisig. IG: @graceparkdining.

Pig Senyor Always consistently delicious, this lechon is superbly packed and will arrive at your party warm, with deliciously crisp skin and meat full of flavor. It’s freshly roasted each time by experienced Cebu lechoneros, and comes in three flavors: mild, mild spicy and spicy. Tip: ask if you can also order puso, rice wrapped in coconut leaves, to lend your party that Cebuano touch. IG: @pigsenyor.
