A classic is back: Orzo Salad
I remember it clearly: I saw the boarded-up space and signage of a new restaurant that was about to open in Bonifacio High Street Central in 2014 and it read: The Wholesome Table. It claimed that it was going to serve healthy, organic food. I was so excited about it that I made plans with my then-boyfriend (who is now my husband) to celebrate my birthday in that restaurant that year. And celebrate at The Wholesome Table I did. I will never forget the first time I tried their Orzo Salad, Wholesome Mojito, Protein Power Bowl, and the Be Empowered smoothie (spinach, kale, banana, chia seeds, spirulina, almond milk, raw honey)—I was sold. I then called it my favorite restaurant. Fast forward to 2024, it still is.
This month of July, the restaurant founded by Bianca Araneta-Elizalde celebrates 10 wonderful years of serving Filipinos and foreigners alike sumptuous, organic food that doesn't sacrifice flavor one bit. As we take a brief journey down memory lane, we also look forward to what the restaurant has in store for us not just this month but all the exciting years ahead!
'The brand's goal is “to build a healthy food culture where people can begin to make informed decisions about the food they eat and take charge of their health, by educating them about natural, organic food, nutrition, and the environment. After all, it is one of the few things consumers can control in life', Bianca shares. As their brand motto goes, “Eat consciously. Live consciously.”
We see this in every single dish and beverage they put out—there is a certain level of care and devotion that you definitely taste and feel—and your body knows it. Not reserved for vegans, plant-based, or gluten-free lifestyles, The Wholesome Table has an offering everyone can definitely enjoy. Their menu goes against the idea that healthy food equals bland food. Actually, it's quite the opposite.

As the years flew by, many menu items were removed, while some were added. Either way, we kept coming back for more. Since 2014 they opened quite a number of branches—Salcedo Village in Makati, Estancia Mall in Pasig, Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, and Greenbelt 2, but because of the pandemic and other challenges, they sadly had to close some down. While the only ones left open right now are BGC and Salcedo, the brand definitely has plans to put up more branches soon, one of which is in Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong. They're eyeing spots in the south too, so that's a win for us!
To celebrate 10 amazing years, The Wholesome Table is holding a month-long celebration this July. Other than the revival of their classics for the special anniversary menu by Executive Chef, Chrioni Castillo, guests and patrons will be given discounts and the chance to win gift certificates, too!

What started as a vision of one mom to encourage others that healthy and mindful eating can be both enjoyable and beneficial for them and the farming community has now become a restaurant brand that stands the test of time. As Bianca shared, ”I'm so proud and happy that we've reached our 10th anniversary. When I opened The Wholesome Table, I never thought it would be as popular as it is and that it would last this long. I'm so happy that it resonated with the Manila crowd, along with the tourists and foreigners who have patronized our restaurant over and over again. I did not imagine this. I'm looking forward to the next 10 years.”
