There’s so much to love about Louis Vuitton’s newest Men’s Fall/Winter 2023 show. Conceived by the Louis Vuitton Studio Prêt-à-Porter Homme team with codes and designs embedded with American designer Colm Dillane’s aesthetic, the season ushers in a playful and imaginative take on Virgil Abloh’s perennial theme: growing up.

The show opens with connecting rooms, starting with a child’s space filled with a little bed and toys. The doors connect and each entryway open to yet another room, one more grown up than the previous one. Here, we see a boy’s first stages unfold to later fully forming into the man he is today. One thing remains though, the hope and joy of once just being that little boy in his little room.

As if like toy’s emerging from the room, the models appeared in outlandish silhouettes XXL jackets and tracksuits, complex pairings, and detailing, each with a personality, each belonging to a person the collection represents. The looks are a little bit of this, a little bit that, not fully venturing out of the magenta hue it’s pushing for yet it makes for a great fashion story.

It’s a show of collaborations. Spanish singer Rosalía provided the musical backdrop, while performing live in a mineral gray puffer. The show was imagined with Sierra Leonean stylist Ibrahim Kamara and the Ukrainian creative director Lina Kutsovskaya, both longtime collaborators of Louis Vuitton. We’re unsure where the next menswear shows will take us the the pillars of an LV men’s show—creatorship, craftsmanship and showmanship—is still kept at heart.
