It is not easy to make such a romantic French fashion house seem more futuristic. For Fall/Winter 2022, Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri made this her overarching goal and future-proofed her collection. The models toe the lines between Tron-esque details and Dune-like looks. But in the midst of sci-fi twist to the show, if you breakdown the pieces, they still fit the femininity we look forward to in Dior.
Opening the show was a model in a pitch black room, illuminated by fluorescent green piping on a body suit. The show carried on with quintessential Dior looks, the Bar jackets, the New Look midi pieces, but paired with futuristic almost sporty leather details in the form of gloves, shoes, even corsets.
The naked eye cannot see that beyond the looks is a technology than may improve fashion and our lives. The collection is a collaboration with D-Air Lab, an Italian company that specializes in technologically advanced functional clothing, materials for sports, and other purposes.
What the collection was most successful at were the pieces Dior does best. The romance of the pantsuits and midi suits still flowed, as timeless as ever even if they were edged to the future.

Some pieces can be tweaked for the unforeseeable time, but the pieces that celebrate the now in Dior truly still are the perennial classics.
