It is with much excitement and pride to announce Filipino designer Jann Bungcaras' participation at the Redress Design Awards for Universal Love’s Le Triathlon De la Mode Éthique. Out of all the designers chosen, Jann is one of the 11 non-Parisians in the competition.

The event was held in Saint-Ouen Paris, France. It was created in order to celebrate and promote ethical fashion. Our representative, Cebu-based Jann Bungcaras, is known to create innovative pieces through the use of upcycled textile waste. For the awards, Jann was tasked to create a Parure, which is a set of accessories considered as wearable art and armor created from disposed and damaged sports goods.

With this, Jann Bungcaras birthed the Empty Nest Parure collection made from his father’s damaged basketball jersey shorts and his stained active shirt. Through these pieces, the designer aimed to reflect and express the love between him and his father that can only be glimpsed once their discernible differences have been destroyed. The collection tells the story of how Jann and his father, while different in many ways, have an invisible bond through their shared love for the arts.
