The real mastermind behind the La Playa Roja siege is revealed in the January 15 episode of “Roja.” Faced with ongoing financial problems, Greta (Lorna Tolentino) has no choice but to orchestrate a crime that would alter the trajectory of their lives in order to pay off her debts to Capt. Jericho Jacinto (Floyd Tena).  After much thought on how to resolve her dilemma, Greta meets with Jericho to propose something that would serve as her payment. She uses her authority as the owner of La Playa Roja as collateral. “Gagawin kong collateral ang mga VIP guest ko.” She adds that even though they try their best to tighten security at the resort, such damages could still happen nonetheless. “Para makabayad ka, kukuntsabahin mo ‘ko na nakawan ang mga guest mo?” Jericho asks, adding, “Utak kriminal ka rin pala.” Greta explains that she no longer knows how to solve her gambling problem, “Hindi alam ng asawa ko na halos wala na kaming pera sa bangko.” She tries to keep everything hidden from her husband, Magnus (Raymond Bagatsing).  Jericho is clearly baffled by Greta’s plan. “Kung mag-iisip ka na rin lang naman ng krimen, lakihan mo na,” he suggests, even proposing something more extreme---such as a hostage-taking. Jericho then asks Greta for further information about the VIP guests coming to the resort and begins plotting with her. “Bubuo ako ng grupo na sasalakay sa isla mo. Mangho-hostage, magde-demand ng pera kapalit ng buhay nila. Limampung milyon bawat ulo,” he adds. Greta fears that someone might get hurt eventually, but Jericho assures her that they would only force the guests to give in. “At, para mas convincing, kailangan ‘yong pamilya mo, maho-hostage din,” he adds. Greta considers his suggestion carefully and gave him two conditions, “Una, walang dapat makaalam na kahit sino na involved ako. Pangalawa, walang masasaktan habang nangho-hostage kayo, lalong-lalo na ang pamilya ko.” Jericho agrees.  Later, the two meet again to finalize their plan. “Hinihintay lang namin ang go signal mo,” Jericho tells Greta, who begins to doubt whether his hired men can truly be trusted.
