Amidst the action and drama in every episode of “Incognito,” there’s the tandem of Tomas Guerrero and his beloved “Ninong” (or godfather) Rolando Reyes—portrayed by promising actor Anthony Jennings and veteran actor Bembol Roco—who unfalteringly provided us with comic relief as they’ve never failed to entertain us with their banter and antics whenever they are together.

While we don’t exactly know yet why Tomas has been under the custody of his ninong—who has been a father figure to him—and not of his biological parents or any relatives, what we are certain about is that they love one another unconditionally despite not being related by blood. And we’re able to witness it the most in the recent episodes of the series, wherein Tomas has been engulfed with severe anxiety after his ninong was abducted by the henchmen of Diego (Louise Abuel), one of the current enemies of the kontraks.

As we look forward to seeing whether Tomas and his teammates will be able to save Rolando, let us revisit some of this dynamic duo’s heartwarming and hilarious moments together in this episode of Kapamilya Update.

Let’s begin with that scene in which Tomas had to bid farewell to Ninong as he joined his first-ever mission with the kontraks. Since nobody must know about it, Tomas was compelled to lie to Rolando and tell him that he just wanted to pursue other opportunities since he was already tired of being his debt collector. Rolando believed him, saying that he fully understood if he didn’t want to live the kind of life they had anymore, and went on to remind him to come back safely. Even though it was difficult for him to leave Ninong alone, Tomas had no choice but to do so in order to provide him a better life and simply gave him a short yet warm embrace. 

Once their mission was over, Tomas fulfilled his unspoken promise to Rolando to come home alive and even prepared an awesome surprise for him and their neighbors. Apart from organizing an outreach activity in their neighborhood, Tomas also gave Rolando a whopping amount of cash as his way of expressing his gratitude for his kindness. As we all know, it came from his earnings from their mission despite their team’s failure to accomplish it.

Impressed by how his teammate Gab Rivera (Maris Racal) was able to cleverly persuade the police officers to release him from jail by pretending to be his lawyer, Tomas was reprimanded by Rolando because instead of being thankful to her, he expressed his disgust towards her for meddling with their family issues. Rolando also attempted to “guilt-trip” him by reminding him how Gab showed concern for him, so it would only be appropriate if Tomas would at least be kind to her as well. And he succeeded, as Tomas promised to apologize to him.

Since Tomas mentioned that Gab isn’t really his type, Rolando tried to set him up with Agnes (Maxine Trinidad), the daughter of one of his friends, which he enthusiastically accepted. They had a lighthearted exchange during this scene, especially when his ninong quizzed him about the real score between him and Gab, assuring him that he’s completely single at the time.

Just several weeks after claiming that nothing romantic was going on between them, Tomas totally surprised his ninong when he presented to him the copy of his and Gab’s wedding invitation. Tomas explained that it would be a fake marriage, explaining that he only agreed to do it to help Gab obtain her inheritance, from which he would have a share or commission.

It initially bothered Rolando since he found it preposterous, yet Tomas reasoned out that it was his only way of helping Gab. Since he knew that he couldn’t do anything about it because he had already made up his mind, he just went on to advise his godson that he can scam everything in this world.
