Many viewers are truly entertained by Roda (Joel Lamangan) because of the kind of friend he’s become to Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) and Tindeng (Charo Santos). And part of being a true "frenny" to these women is standing up for them, especially against Rigor (John Estrada), the man they consider the "devil" in their lives.

While most people would cower in fear at the sight of the ruthless Rigor, the ever-bold and outspoken Roda proves he’s not one to back down, as seen in this Kapamilya Toplist of scenes from "FPJ’s Batang Quiapo." Here are all the times the beloved ‘frenny’ wasn't scared to clap back at Rigor or speak his mind even right in front of him. 

Roda was never afraid to take jabs at Rigor's mistress, Lena (Mercedes Cabral), with whom he immediately locked horns as soon as they became housemates when he rented a room at the DImaguiba abode. On the lookout for a place to rest after a long day, he opened the door to one of the rooms and was shocked to find Lena inside. Knowing full well that Lena was Rigor’s mistress, and the sworn enemy of his friend Marites, he instantly fired off some spicy commentary, exclaiming, “Ay! May jumper! May ilegal na kabit! Ayoko dito!” Thanks to Roda, mistresses now have a new nickname—“jumper,” which is a term for illegal power connections.

In another episode, when Lena was thrilled about attending Rigor’s pinning ceremony after his promotion, Roda, ever the straight-shooter, quipped, “Wow! Feeling mo invited ka, ‘day? Mangarap ka! For your information, ang legal families lang ang invited sa mga gano’ng ceremony, para ka namang hindi pulis, mas marunong pa ako sa’yo.” And though annoyed, Rigor agreed. 

Viewers burst into laughter at the scene where Rigor entered Roda’s room and hugged him from behind, thinking he was Marites, and started apologizing. Tickled by the moment, Roda playfully reacted, “Pati ba naman ako, Rigor?” It was an epic scene, especially with Rigor’s hilariously annoyed reaction.

The next morning, Roda was eager to tell Marites that Rigor might be having a change of heart after what happened last night, and especially after witnessing him and Lena arguing about their unborn child. When Rigor interrupted and asked what was going on with Marites and why she had been acting strange lately, Roda didn’t hesitate to call the traitors out and remind them just how deeply Marites was affected by their affair. “Para namang hindi ninyo alam,” he emphasized. Later, when he found out that Lena had entered his room and was told he had no right to complain since he was only staying as a renter, he fired back, saying he’d put a sign on the door that says “arf arf,” mocking Lena as if she were a dog.

One morning, tensions ran high in the Dimaguiba household after Camille’s (Yukii Takahashi) accident. Roda asked Lena if she had even noticed Camille leaving the house before the accident happened. Lena defensively replied that she wasn’t just there to watch over everyone. Roda was about to say something back, but Rigor stopped him, so all he managed to say was a funny, “Noted." 

To be fair, Roda’s constant nagging seemed to strike a nerve with Rigor during the time he had his own son, Santino (Ronwaldo Martin), jailed after being accused of murder. While Lena advised Rigor to just let things go, Roda offered a more thoughtful perspective. He pointed out that it wouldn’t be easy for Santino to forgive his father, especially after being hurt by the fact that Rigor didn’t even believe his side of the story. Rigor fell silent, so it seemed like Roda’s words had hit his conscience. 

It was also Roda who ended up revealing Lena’s terrifying capacity for violence when he was stabbed by the most notorious mistress herself. When Rigor visited him in the hospital to investigate the incident, he made sure to let Rigor know that it was Lena who stabbed him. He warned Rigor that if he wouldn't act soon, Lena might kill his entire family.

In the last sequences of this video montage, Roda boldly called out Rigor’s descent into full-blown villainy after being dismissed from the police service. When Rigor got mad at Roda, Marites, and Tindeng for still managing to have breakfast after he lost his job, Roda explained that they weren’t exactly celebrating what happened to him. And if Rigor was going to speak with hostility, Roda was ready to match that same energy.

There was also a scene where Roda scolded the rude David (McCoy de Leon) for his shameless reaction to Rigor throwing Tindeng out of the house. David had the nerve to be pleased about it, even though Tindeng was only trying to help Marites escape after Rigor locked her up like an animal. When Rigor then announced that he was asked to return to work after heroically saving Mayor Roberto (Albert Martinez) from a shooting incident, Roda sarcastically commented that Rigor should indeed be called a hero—the kind that deserves to be executed.
