As we reflect on the journey and passion of Jesus Christ throughout the Lenten season, we’ve surely encountered or dove into the miraculous stories that He has made as we attended masses and read the Bible.

While the Old Testament and the New Testament are full of miracles, we have also certainly witnessed countless tales about God working miraculously in modern times as portrayed in movies and teleseryes—from healing the sick to the occurrence of unfathomable phenomena. And the following five Kapamilya teleseryes are indeed great examples of narratives that would make us further believe that miracles can still happen.

Huwag Kang Mangamba: Mira & Joy came back to life after an accident

After figuring in a fatal vehicular accident one evening, Mira (Andrea Brillantes) and Joy (Francine Diaz) miraculously survived, as if nothing happened to them. While Mira was rushed by her family to the hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival for a few minutes after suffering from a brain hemorrhage and cardiac arrest, Joy was left on the street with the town beggar, Barang (Sylvia Sanchez), being the only person to accompany and pray for her.

As she prayed over Joy while she was still unconscious, her delusional faith healer aunt Deborah (Eula Valdez) took the opportunity to claim this miracle as her own. Upon learning what Barang did for her, Mira was sure that it was “Bro” who healed her.

Starla: Barrio Maulap witnesses a miracle in the night sky

Upon seeing the terrible situation at Barrio Maulap that got struck by the epidemic, Buboy (Enzo Pelojero) and his dependable celestial bestie Starla (Jana Agoncillo) once again worked together to get rid of the outbreak. The adorable wishing star prompted Buboy to wish for the recovery of Doc Philip (Raymart Santiago) and of their sick townsfolk.

With just one yell of her chant, “Ano man ang hiling aking tutuparin. Ang iyong nasa loob ipagkakaloob. Ngayon din, now na!”, Starla’s magical stardust were sprinkled to the tea prepared by the elderly member of their community, Mang Kulas (Bodjie Pascua), which miraculously cured the patients with just one sip.

May Bukas Pa: Santino performs a miracle to stop the chaos

As chaos erupted in Bagong Pag-asa, which already went beyond the control of the authorities, Santino (Zaijian Jaranilla) was able to astonishingly put an end to it by asking “Bro” to stop them. A blinding light suddenly struck the ground from the heavens and covered Santino as he walked towards the midst of the crowd. Crying, he reminded everyone, “Tama na po. Ayaw po ni Bro na magkasakitan tayo. Ang gusto po ni Bro, magmahalan tayo.”

The news about the miracle performed by Santino spread like wildfire not just in Bagong Pag-asa but also in different parts of the country and of the world, which made a lot of people believe that it was indeed a miracle that transpired no less.

Nathaniel: Angel Josiah heals the children

Since he’s an angel, we can perhaps say that Nathaniel (Marco Masa) was indeed closer to God. Thus, when he prayed to Him to heal the sick children of Laging Saklolo, He apparently sent Angel Josiah (Rayver Cruz) to Earth to fulfill it.

In return, Nathaniel reminded the patients and their parents to not forget to pray and to thank God for the miracle and blessing they just received. As he expressed his gratitude to Him, Nathaniel wished for Him to continue treating other ill children since their parents couldn’t afford their hospitalization.

Love In 40 Days: Jane wakes up

Just when her family and friends assumed that she was already dead as she went flatline after her stepsister Valerie (Zabel Lamberth) pulled out the plugs of her life support mission, Jane (Loisa Andalio) astonishingly came back to life as she gasped for air and woke up from her comatose. After a series of unsuccessful attempts to bring her wandering soul back to her body before her 40-day transitory period ended, it happened effortlessly and unexpectedly without having to force it.

Alongside her loved ones, her boyfriend, Edward (Ronnie Alonte), was there to witness the miracle, which they’d been waiting for for a very long time. The couple were just thankful that God heard their prayers and made it possible.

There scenes are indeed proof that there are just things in life that are way beyond our control and we should simply lift up to God because after all, it’s only Him who knows what are best for us.
