The Lenten season is a time to step back from the chaos of everyday life and reconnect with one’s faith. Even the busiest stars like Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino take Holy Week as a much-needed break from work, allowing them to reflect on life and strengthen their faith.

Kim grew up in a faithful environment. Every Sunday, they would go to church together as a family. Before her mom passed away, she made sure to instill in their family the importance of prayer and having a relationship with God. Her mom also taught them to pray the rosary, which she still does daily. Similarly, Paulo's family is also very open about their faith. He shared that they would often send each other Bible verses for encouragement, especially during tough or busy days.

When asked what they would want to restart in their lives, should they have the chance, Kim said she wouldn’t change a thing because she sees life itself as a gift, no matter what form it takes. “Lahat ng struggles, highs and lows ng life, kailangan mo talaga pagdaanan ’yun for you to appreciate life even more,” she said. Besides, all the challenges she went through were worth it, “Mahirap siya, pero masarap siya kapag naabot mo.”

Meanwhile, Paulo admitted he’s made his share of mistakes in life, but none that he feels had a major impact on others. That’s why he’d also choose not to change anything. Everything worked out in the end, so he’d rather leave things as they are.

This Holy Week, KimPau is hoping for a quieter and more reflective season. Kim wants to go somewhere less crowded to have some alone time. Part of her plan is also to visit the church and give up something as a form of sacrifice.

The same goes for Paulo, who prefers to stay away from the usual vacation crowds as he'd rather spend the time reflecting. “Ina-assess ko ‘yung mga pagkakamaling nagawa ko, o kung paano ko pa ma-i-improve ‘yung mga parts ng personality ko na tingin ko hindi maganda ‘yung epekto sa ibang tao,” he shared.

Just like Kim and Paulo, may we all take the Lenten season as a time to reflect and realign with what truly matters.
