Love can be the simplest thing in the world, or the most complicated puzzle you’ll ever try to solve. In their upcoming movie "My Love Will Make You Disappear," Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino take us through both the sweet and bitter sides of romance, showing us that love can be both magic and mess. 

And as we count down to the premiere of their much-anticipated rom-com offering, Kim and Paulo get real about the ‘how tos’ of love—how to say sorry, how to show trust, and everything in between.

One of the trickiest parts of any relationship is apologizing, especially when pride gets in the way. So, how do you say sorry after a fight? For Kim, it doesn’t always have to be a grand gesture. Sometimes, a simple “sorry” is enough. But as Paulo points out, it needs to be sincere.“Kailangan tanggap mo rin ang pagkakamali mo ‘pag nag-sorry ka,” he explains.

The same goes for showing trust in a relationship. It should be simple, but it gets complicated when certain factors come into play. For Kim, one basic but significant act of trust is to never snoop through your partner’s phone. She believes that some things must still remain personal even in a romantic relationship,“Kasi ‘yun na lang ang kanya, eh… Nasa kanya na ‘yun kung gusto niyang magkuwento. Huwag ka nang mangialam.” Paulo agrees but adds that trust is also about giving your partner space to grow, “Hayaan mo siyang mag-explore sa labas na wala sa circle o bubble n’yo.”

But when it comes to expressing love, Kim goes all out. She makes sure to exercise the five love languages to make her special someone feel cherished, from gift-giving to acts of service, words of affirmation, quality time, and physical touch. 

Meanwhile, as for Paulo, he believes that out of all the love languages, the most precious one is quality time. “'Yung oras at company na binibigay mo sa isang tao ay priceless talaga. Kumbaga, time is gold dahil hindi mo na maibabalik ang oras. So, mas maraming oras mo kapiling 'yung kasama mo na hindi naman necessarily kailangang regaluhan or anything, I think 'yun ang pinaka-priceless na puwede mong ibigay."

Jealousy is a tough thing to deal with in most relationships as it can shake even the strongest foundation. That’s why Kim avoids being the jealous type as much as possible. “Hindi ako selosa," she says, before laughing at Paulo's confession that he's not exactly 'seloso' either, but he prefers to be straightforward and logical. If he senses something that needs to be addressed, he asks his partner about it immediately.
